PALABRAS CLAVE: complementary therapies, alternative therapies, Mind-Body Therapies, reiki, oncology, integrative medicine, effectiveness, Yoga and anxiety, unidas por los operadores booleanos “AND” y “OR”, y varias combinaciones de términos Mesh.es_ES
T: INTRODUCTION: Oncology patients undergoing various medical treatments experience significant changes in their personal and family lives. Quality of life is affected by different causes associated with symptoms during these treatments such as pain, nausea and vomiting, insomnia, fatigue, anxiety, depression, and stress. Therefore, many use some type of complementary therapy to reduce the side effects and improve their overall well-being during this process. OBJECTIVES: To understand the effectiveness of different complementary therapies in improving the symptoms of treatment side effects in oncology patients. METHODOLOGY: Initially, a search was conducted in various databases: Elsevier, PubMed, Medline, Cochrane, and Google Scholar. This search was limited to articles from the last ten years with full texts available in English, Spanish, and Catalan. The final articles were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria after reading the abstracts. Additionally, an intervention will be proposed with a pre-post design without a control group, encompassing various complementary therapies: yoga, music therapy, and acupuncture. Sessions will be prepared for a sample of fifteen oncology patients at the ICO Hospital Duran i Reynals. The duration of this intervention is expected to be 4 months, conducted twice a week. Finally, the evaluation will be carried out before and after the intervention. CONCLUSION: The use of complementary therapies in oncology patients could be a good therapeutic alternative as part of the treatment, providing significant physical, psychological, emotional, and social benefits, thereby enhancing overall well-being and quality of life. KEYWORDS: complementary therapies, alternative therapies, Mind-Body Therapies, reiki, oncology, integrative medicine, effectiveness, Yoga and anxiety, connected by the Boolean operators "AND" and "OR", and various combinations of MeSH terms.en
