Violencia y salud mental: análisis de factores asociados en pacientes con trastornos mentales graves

Abstract

RESUMEN: Los trastornos mentales graves (TMG) y la violencia son fenómenos complejos con importantes repercusiones sociales, sanitarias y éticas. Aunque persiste el estigma que vincula la enfermedad mental con conductas violentas, la evidencia científica demuestra que esta asociación no es directa ni universal. De hecho, las personas con TMG presentan una mayor vulnerabilidad a la victimización que a la perpetración de violencia. No obstante, factores como la falta de adherencia al tratamiento, el consumo de sustancias, el entorno sociofamiliar y experiencias traumáticas previas pueden incrementar el riesgo de conductas agresivas. Este trabajo de fin de grado tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre los TMG y la violencia en pacientes atendidos en el Centro Hospitalario Benito Menni de Sant Boi de Llobregat, a través de un estudio cuantitativo y transversal. Se utilizarán escalas validadas y análisis estadísticos para identificar posibles asociaciones entre variables clínicas, sociodemográficas, antecedentes de victimización y conducta violenta. Desde una perspectiva enfermera, el estudio apuesta por una atención integral, humanizada y basada en la evidencia, visibilizando la realidad de este colectivo y contribuyendo a la reducción del estigma. Asimismo, busca fomentar estrategias preventivas e intervenciones adaptadas, reconociendo el papel clave de la enfermería en la detección precoz, la promoción de la salud mental, la adherencia terapéutica y la inclusión social de estas personas. La investigación pretende contribuir a una mejor comprensión de esta compleja relación, promoviendo una reflexión crítica y ética sobre cómo abordar la violencia desde el respeto a los derechos y la dignidad de las personas afectadas. ABSTRACT: Severe mental disorders (SMDs) and violence are complex phenomena with significant social, healthcare, and ethical implications. Although stigma persists linking mental illness to violent behavior, scientific evidence shows that this association is neither direct nor universal. In fact, individuals with SMDs are more vulnerable to becoming victims rather than perpetrators of violence. However, factors such as non-adherence to treatment, substance use, family and social environment, and traumatic experiences can increase the risk of aggressive behavior. This final degree project aims to analyze the relationship between SMDs and violence in patients treated at the Benito Menni Hospital Center in Sant Boi de Llobregat through a quantitative and cross-sectional study. Validated scales and statistical analyses will be used to identify potential associations between clinical, sociodemographic variables, victimization history, and violent behavior. From a nursing perspective, the study advocates for comprehensive, humanized, and evidence-based care, highlighting the reality of this population and helping to reduce stigma. It also seeks to promote preventive strategies and tailored interventions, acknowledging the key role of nurses in early detection, mental health promotion, treatment adherence, and social inclusion of these individuals. The research aims to contribute to a better understanding of this complex relationship, encouraging critical and ethical reflection on how to address violence with respect for the rights and dignity of affected individuals.
