| dc.description.abstract | RESUMEN:

| dc.description.abstract | ABSTRACT:
Skin-to-skin contact (SSC), also known as kangaroo mother care, is a
fundamental practice in neonatal care, especially for preterm newborns. Scientific
evidence shows that it helps maintain physiological stability by supporting
temperature and cardiorespiratory regulation, reducing stress, and promoting
neurological development. It also allows mothers and their infants to begin
building an emotional bond from the very first moments of life.
However, in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), this interaction does not
always occur under optimal conditions. Factors such as prematurity, the
newborn’s clinical condition, prolonged hospitalization, and the mother’s
emotional state may make this process more challenging. Although the NANDA I taxonomy includes diagnoses related to bonding and parental roles, it does not
specifically address this situation, highlighting a gap in nursing practice.
Therefore, this study aims to design and validate a new nursing diagnosis: “Risk
of impaired mother–infant interaction during skin-to-skin contact.” A quantitative
methodological study based on expert judgment is proposed. This approach
seeks to support the early identification of vulnerable situations, facilitate more
individualized care planning, promote secure attachment, and contribute to more
humanized neonatal care.
