Introduction: This study examines how Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT), which aims to restore balance to the stomatognathic system (SG) and is supported by objective assessment tools, plays a key role in the rehabilitation of atypical swallowing (AS). Objective: The efficacy of OFMT will be evaluated against Conventional Speech and Language Therapy (SLT), and changes in swallowing will be analysed before and after the intervention in both children and adolescents. Materials and methods: A Randomised Clinical Trial (RCT) will be conducted with 30 participants aged between 4 and 15 years, diagnosed with AT. They will be divided into two groups, both with the same number of individuals. The Experimental Group (EG), where SLT and TMO will be applied, and the Control Group (CG), where only SLT will be provided. The effectiveness of the intervention will be measured using the SPIRIT protocol and clinical variables, as well as objective measurements obtained using advanced technology. Furthermore, the biopsychosocial effect among participants will be examined. Work plan: The project will be carried out over a period of 15 months, from conceptual design through to clinical intervention using speech and language therapy techniques. The procedure will conclude with a statistical evaluation, discussion and publication of the results in specialist journals, with the aim of implementing speech and language therapy protocols based on scientific evidence for future approaches to atypical swallowing. Discussion/conclusion: A proposed study on the rehabilitation of the SE, combining TMO and SLT with a more comprehensive and integrated approach, highlighting strengths and limitations.es_ES
