L’efectivitat d’un programa d’educació sobre l’ictus, dirigit a infants de sisè de primària, segons l’aplicació de la mnemotècnia FAST

Abstract

L’ICTUS, és un trastorn brusc del flux sanguini cerebral que altera la funció d’una determinada part de l’encèfal. Una de les principals raons per les quals és important que la població conegui la malaltia, és la seva incidència, essent la segona causa de mortalitat específica a Espanya. La identificació tardana dels símptomes d’alarma de la malaltia, causada per el baix coneixement que en té la població i la morbiditat i mortalitat que aquest fet origina, és una altre de les raons pel qual és important incidir-hi de forma eficient. OBJECTIU: Aquest estudi té per objectiu, demostrar que canviant el mètode en que actualment s’educa als infants de Sant Cugat del Vallès sobre l’ictus, i introduint la mnemotècnia FAST, es pot arribar a augmentar els coneixements de tota la població a l’hora d’identificar precoçment un ictus. MÈTODE: El projecte consisteix en un estudi analític quasi experimental, d’acció comunitària, longitudinal i prospectiu. L’ instrument de mesura que s’utilitzarà és un qüestionari a partir del qual es podran contrastar les hipòtesis mitjançant l’aplicació de la T-student. CONCLUSIONS: És un projecte fàcil de portar a terme, que es pot realitzar amb un període curt de temps. Si la hipòtesi es verifica, i es pot arribar a extrapolar a la realitat i aplicar a diferents escoles, es podrà demostrar que el coneixement augmenta i que probablement disminuirà de forma exponencial la morbiditat i mortalitat causada per la identificació tardana de l’ictus, disminuint, de forma anàloga, la durada dels ingressos hospitalaris, i el cost econòmic que tot això suposa. Stroke is a sudden cerebral blood flow disorder that disrupts the function of a particular part of the brain. One of the main reasons why it is important that people are familiar with this disease is the effect that it has, being the second cause of death in Spain. Tardy identification of the warning signs of the disease, caused by poor awareness of it by the general population, and the morbidity and mortality that arise from it are other reasons why it is important to intervene efficiently and quickly. OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study is to demonstrate that by changing the current method used to teach children in Sant Cugat del Vallès about strokes and by introducing the mnemonic FAST , it is possible to increase the general population’s ability to identify strokes in the early stage. METHODS: The project consists of an analytical quasi-experimental community action, both a longitudinal and prospective study. The measuring instrument consists of a questionnaire whose hypothesis will be contrasted by applying the student’s t-test. CONCLUSIONS : This project is easy to carry out ,and it can be done in a short period of time. If the hypothesis is verified , and it is possible to extrapolate the study to real conditions and apply it to different schools, it would be possible to demonstrate that improved awareness of stroke symptoms could decrease the morbidity and mortality caused by late identification , reducing at the same time the length of hospitalization , and the subsequent economic cost.
