Evaluación del uso del sistema sanitario público de Cataluña por parte de las mujeres inmigrantes de L’Hospitalet de Llobregat

Abstract

En la última década el crecimiento de la inmigración en Cataluña se ha convertido en un fenómeno que no puede pasar desapercibido. Cada vez son más las mujeres que deciden dejar su país para buscar una vida mejor. La salud pública debe tomar partido en el cuidado de la población inmigrante, sin embargo existen factores que dificultan un buen abordaje y atención sanitaria. El estudio se centrará en el municipio de L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, el segundo de Cataluña que más inmigrantes acoge. El objetivo general de esta investigación es evaluar el uso que hacen las mujeres inmigrantes de L’Hospitalet del sistema sanitario público de Cataluña, explorando las dificultades y barreras existentes en el acceso y la atención, y evaluando el grado de satisfacción en verso al sistema. Se analizarán los resultados de la prueba piloto del estudio, realizada con 15 mujeres inmigrantes residentes en L’Hospitalet, a través de una encuesta de carácter auto-administrado (si no tienen problemas con la comprensión del idioma), de preguntas sugeridas y cerradas sobre la utilización de los servicios y las barreras encontradas. También se realizará una encuesta de satisfacción. Los resultados de la prueba piloto nos muestran que las mujeres inmigrantes de L’Hospitalet hacen uso del sistema sanitario público cuando lo necesitan. Así mismo, están bastante satisfechas con él, siendo el tiempo de espera lo que más preocupa. En cuanto a las barreras que encuentran, destacan los problemas con el idioma, el desconocimiento del sistema y los servicios, y el tiempo de espera.

In the last decade the growth of immigration in Catalonia has become a phenomenon that cannot go unnoticed. An increasing number of women are leaving their home countries in search of a better life. Public health policies should attend to immigrant populations. However, these populations face several obstacles that hinder a good approach and health care. This study will focus on the city of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, which has the second largest immigrant population in Catalonia. The overall objective of this study is to evaluate how immigrant women in L'Hospitalet use the Catalonian public health system, exploring the difficulties and barriers they face in their access to health care, and evaluating the degree of satisfaction with the system. We analyze the results of a pilot study involving 15 immigrant women residing in L'Hospitalet which deploys a self-administered survey of suggested and closed questions (only if they do not have problems with language comprehension). The questions focus on their use of services and the barriers encountered. A satisfaction survey is also deployed. The results of the pilot study show that immigrant women from L'Hospitalet use the public health system when they need it. They are also quite satisfied with the system, but express concerns about the waiting times. With respect to the barriers faced, women highlight language problems, insufficient knowledge of the system and of the services available, and waiting times.
