Efectividad de los abordajes de fisioterapia en niños con trastorno del espectro autista: una revisión sistemática

Abstract

Diseño del estudio: Revisión sistemática acerca de la literatura científica disponible en las bases de datos sobre los diferentes tipos de abordajes terapéuticos en el tratamiento de niños con Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA). Objetivos: La intención de esta revisión ofrecer información mediante una búsqueda en la literatura actual sobre los métodos de tratamiento en fisioterapia para abarcar las necesidades de los niños con TEA, indicando si alguna de las terapias es más efectiva. Métodos: Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica de ensayos controlados y ensayos controlados aleatorizados, entre mayo y junio de 2015 en las bases de datos Medline, PEDro, y Trip Database. Un revisor evaluó la calidad de dichos tratamientos en niños y adolescentes con TEA. Se han incluido ocho ensayos. Resultados: Todas las terapias incluidas en la revisión, excepto la acupuntura, son efectivas en el tratamiento de niños con autismo, sin embargo, no existe evidencia que respalde que el uso de una terapia sea más efectivo que otra. Conclusiones: Aunque la mayoría de los estudios son factibles para su reproducción, no pueden hacerse generalizaciones de los resultados ya que, a pesar de que varios mostraron buenos resultados en los pacientes, la muestra no es homogénea y existen factores que dan lugar a la aparición de sesgos.

Study design: Systematic review concerning the scientific literature available in the data bases about the different therapies in the treatment of children with ASD. Purpose: The purpose of this review is to provide information through a search of the current literature on the treatment methods in physiotherapy to address the needs of children with ASD, indicating whether any therapy is more effective. Methods: A literature search of controlled trials and randomized controlled trials was conducted between May and June 2015 in the Medline, PEDro, and Trip Database. One reviewer assessed the quality of such treatment in children and adolescents with ASD. Eight trials were included. Results: All therapies included in the review, except acupuncture are effective in treating children with autism, however, there is no evidence to support that the use of one therapy is more effective than another. Conclusion: Although most studies are feasible for reproduction, results cannot be generalized, although several showed good results in patients, the sample is not homogeneous and there are factors that lead to the appearance of bias.
