Programa de Educación para la Salud dirigido a menores con Trastorno del Espectro Autista que presentan descompensaciones

Abstract

Los niños que tienen un Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA) se caracterizan por usar un lenguaje limitado, evitar el contacto visual y físico, no obedecer a instrucciones, seguir una rutina estricta y no salir de ella, presentan agresividad o auto agresividad entre otras. Salir de su zona de confort o forzarlo a cambiar algunas de las características mencionadas anteriormente puede provocar una descompensación sobre el niño, que suele cursar con agresividad, auto agresividad o gritos.

La prevalencia de TEA actualmente es de 1 cada 1000 habitantes. Estudios recientes, en Catalunya, detallan un aumento de un 12% en el último año. Las descompensaciones del TEA son uno de los componentes relevantes a tener en cuanta en el tratamiento y el seguimiento de las personas que padecen dicha enfermedad. Debido al aumento de la prevalencia y a que las descompensaciones que sufren los niños afectan a su calidad de vida, se propone este programa de salud dirigido a los niños con TEA de 7 a 10 años del Centre de Salut Mental d’Infants i Joves (CSMIJ) del Eixample.

El objetivo general que se pretende conseguir es disminuir un 20% las descompensaciones de los niños con TEA del CSMIJ del Eixample, en un plazo de dos años. Para alcanzar el objetivo se han diseñado unas actividades dirigidas a los niños las cuales se basan en terapia canina y terapia con robots.

Children who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are characterized by using a limited language, avoiding eye and physical contact, not obeying instructions, following a strict routine without leaving it and being aggressive with themselves and the other, among other characteristics. Leaving their comfort zone or forcing them to change some of the mentioned features can produce an imbalance on the child, which is usually associated with aggression, self aggression or shouting.

ASD prevalence is currently 1 per 1000 inhabitants, but recent research studies in Catalonia point to an increase of 12% in the last year. Decompensation of ASD are one of the important to keep in mind in the treatment and monitoring of people with the disease components. The present project stems from this average increase and from the decompensation that the ASD effects produce at the children's quality of life. This is a health program addressed to 7 to 10 year-old children of the CSMIJ Eixample (Child and Youth Mental Care Center).

The overall objective to be achieved is a 20% decrease of decompensation of children with ASD of the CSMIJ Eixample within two years. In order to achieve this goal, different children activities have been designed based on canine and robotic therapies.
