Orientaciones diagnósticas y tratamiento del Trastorno de la Identidad de la Integridad Corporal: Revisión bibliográfica

Abstract

ANTECEDENTES: El Trastorno de la Identidad de la Integridad Corporal es una patología poco conocida en el ámbito de la salud, que genera en las personas que la padecen un gran deseo de amputación de alguna de sus extremidades sanas. OBJETIVO GENERAL: Dar a conocer el Trastorno de la Identidad de la Integridad Corporal entre la comunidad asistencial, realizando una revisión bibliográfica de las diferentes orientaciones diagnósticas que se han barajado desde que se dio el primer caso. OBJETIVO ESPECÍFICO: Determinar cuál es el tratamiento de elección para las personas que sufren este trastorno, teniendo en cuenta las grandes implicaciones éticas que algunos de ellos conllevan. METODOLOGÍA: Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica de las diferentes orientaciones diagnósticas y de los estudios que valorasen la efectividad de los distintos tratamientos utilizados hasta la fecha. BACKGROUND: Body Integrity Identity Disorder is a rare condition in which patients grow a strong desire to amputate one of their healthy limbs. MAIN OBJECTIVE: The aim of this work is to make Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) known among the healthcare community, executing a bibliographic review of the different diagnoses made since the first case showed up. SECONDARY OBJECTIVE: To define which one is the most effective treatment for people suffering from this disorder, taking into account all the ethical issues that some of them entail. METHODS: On one hand, a bibliographic review of the different diagnoses was made. On the other hand, all the studies that valued the effectiveness of different treatments were assesed.
