La educación sanitaria en los pacientes con EPOC aumenta la adherencia al tratamiento y disminuye los costes sanitarios

Abstract

La EPOC es una de las principales causas de muerte mundial, dicha enfermedad, puede no progresar, hasta el punto de quedarse en un estadio fijo, para ello, es importante seguir siempre el tratamiento indicado por los profesionales. El tratamiento inhalatorio de la EPOC y otras enfermedades que requieren estos dispositivos, puede llegar a resultar complicado para los pacientes, sobretodo, los mayores de 60 años, ya que, la coordinación que requiere la técnica se debe practicar, ya que si se realiza el tratamiento de manera incorrecta no será efectivo. La inefectividad del tratamiento produce un abandono del mismo. La hipótesis principal del proyecto se basa en que con la educación sanitaria adecuada respecto al tratamiento y técnica inhalatoria, los pacientes con EPOC conseguirán una adherencia al tratamiento del 70% y se reducirán costes sanitarios un 30%. El objetivo principal es elaborar un programa formativo sobre la terapia y técnica inhalatorias para personas con EPOC, en el estudio participarán dos grupos de pacientes del Hospital Municipal de Badalona con el objetivo de comparar ambos grupos para ver la evolución del que se le hace la formación y al que no. Concluye con la reflexión de lo mucho que significaría para el colectivo sanitario hacer éste programa, no tan solo por reducir costes que se podrían invertir en investigaciones y demás, si no por reafirmar una competencia de enfermería como esencial para conseguir que nuestros pacientes tengan una mejor calidad de vida y tomen sus decisiones con conocimiento de su enfermedad. COPD is a one of the causes of death worldwide, that disease will not progress to staying in a fixed stage if always follow the treatment prescribed by professionals. The inhalation treatment of COPD and other diseases that require these devices can be difficult for patients, especially, those over 60 years, because, the coordination required for the technique must be practiced. If the treatment isn’t doing to correct form, was ineffective. The ineffectiveness of treatment produces abandonment. The hypothesis of that project is based on proper inhalation technique with correct health education and treatment, patients with COPD get adherence to treatment of 70% and health costs reduced by 30%. The objective is to develop a training program on therapy and technical inhalational for people with COPD, the study involved two groups of patients in the Municipal Hospital of Badalona in order to compare both groups to see the evolution. It concludes with reflection of how much it would mean for health care professionals do this program, not only to reduce costs that could be invested in research and other, if not reassert our nursing competency as essential to ensure that our patients have a better quality of life and make their decisions with knowledge of their disease.
