Estudio sobre los factores psicológicos influyentes en la adherencia a la rehabilitación de deportistas lesionados (Percepción desde el fisioterapeuta)

Abstract

El nivel de adherencia a la rehabilitación tras una lesión deportiva es considerado una de las variables más importantes para conseguir una buena recuperación, y está influenciado por múltiples factores, tanto cognitivos, como emocionales. Los objetivos del presente trabajo son comprobar la relación entre las características de los deportistas que tienen una mejor adherencia a la rehabilitación y sus percepciones, junto a la de los fisioterapeutas. Por otro lado, determinar si existe un patrón de afrontamiento que favorezca la adecuada adherencia al tratamiento tras una lesión. Y por último, conocer el estado de ánimo del deportista cuando está involucrado con su lesión durante la rehabilitación. Se ha realizado un estudio transversal con 25 deportistas lesionados de entre 18 y 46 años. Los criterios de inclusión para el estudio han sido lesiones médicamente diagnosticadas y tratadas por fisioterapeutas en mayores de 18 años. Los fisioterapeutas estaban encargados de la recogida de datos de los deportistas, de sus características, y de rellenar escalas de adherencia; los deportistas de completar una escala de estilos de afrontamiento, una de estados de ánimo y otra de adherencia. Los resultados indican que hay diferencias significativas a favor de la percepción de adherencia de los deportistas con respecto a los fisioterapeutas; que afrontamiento activo, pensamientos de solución ilusoria, distanciamiento y autoinculpación son los factores más altos para los deportistas con adherencia alta; y que conforme aumentan los indicadores de Tensión-Ansiedad, Fatiga-Inercia y Confusión-Desorientación aumentan los niveles de adherencia.

The level of adherence to the rehabilitation after a sport injury is considered one of the most important variables in order to complete a good recovery and it is influenced by multiple factors, both cognitive and emotional. The aim of this study is to assess the relationship between the characteristics of the athletes who have a better adherence to the rehabilitation process and their perceptions, along with the physical therapists’ ones. On the other hand, we also want to discover if there is a pattern to face the injury which provides a good adherence to the treatment after the injury, and finally, to possess the athlete`s state of mind when he involves himself in the rehabilitation process. We have carried out a transversal study with 25 injured athletes between 18 and 46 years old. The inclusion standards were to have a medically diagnosed injury, treated by a physical therapist, and to be more than 18 years old. The physical therapists were in charge of the athletes’ data collection and their characteristics, and they had to fill the adherence scales. The athletes had to complete a scale about injury confrontation ways, one about mood states and one of adherence. The results tell us that there are significant differences in favour of the perception of adherence of the athletes with respect to the physical therapists’ ones;; that active confrontation, illusory solution thoughts, distancing and selfincrimination are the highest factors for the athletes with the highest adherence; and that adherence levels increase at the same time that tension-anxiety, fatigue-inertia and confusion-disorientation indicators grow.
