Perspectivas de las enfermeras sobre las necesidades espirituales de los adolescentes en cuidados paliativos: estudio cualitativo fenomenológico

Abstract

INTRODUCCIÓN: Los adolescentes en cuidados paliativos tienen unas necesidades espirituales que no están integradas en el cuidado del profesional sanitario. Estos presentan mayores exigencias por todos los cambios experimentados en la etapa de la adolescencia, añadiendo a esto las dificultades que experimentan en la fase final de vida. Las enfermeras hoy en día, confirman, según la bibliografía, que no tienen herramientas y habilidades para cubrir estas necesidades en estos pacientes. OBJETIVO : Este estudio pretende conocer las perspectivas de las enfermeras sobre las necesidades espirituales en adolescentes en la fase final de vida. MÉTODOS : Es un estudio cualitativo fenomenológico que permite describir la experiencia vivida y las percepciones con el fin de obtener un conocimiento profundo del tema. Los datos se recopilarán a través de entrevistas en profundidad que serán grabadas con un sistema de audio a enfermeras que cuidan a adolescentes en su final de vida. CONCLUSIONES : Actualmente las enfermeras expresan no saber abarcar las necesidades espirituales de los pacientes, a pesar de ser una pieza fundamental en un cuidado de calidad. Las principales dificultades son, el déficit de comunicación, la falta de formación, miedo e incapacidad de afrontar el duelo. INTRODUCTION : Teenagers in palliative care have spiritual needs that are not embraced in the health profesional care. They show greater demands due to all the changes in the adolecence stage, adding to this, the difficulties of their end-of-life situation. Nurses of these days, confirm, according to the bibliography, that they do not have the tools and neither the skills to achieve these patients’ needs. OBJECTIVE : The aim of this study is to know nurses’ perspectives on the spiritual needs of adolescents in the end-of-life situation. METHODS : It is a phenomenological qualitative study that allow to describe the lived experience and perceptions in order to obtain a deep knowledge of the subject. The data will be collected through in depth interviews that will be recorded with an audio system for nurses who care for teenagers at the end of their lives. CONCLUSIONS : Currently, nurses express not know how to cover the spiritual needs of patients, despite being a fundamental piece in quality care. The main difficulties are, the lack of communication, the lack of training, fear and inability to face grief. KEYWORDS : Nurse, experience, spiritual needs, adolescent, palliative care.
