Efectividad de la terapia en espejo en pacientes con ictus

Abstract

Objetivo: Analizar si la terapia en espejo, como parte del tratamiento rehabilitador, produce efectos beneficiosos en pacientes que hayan sufrido un Ictus. Métodos: Mediante una búsqueda bibliográfica sistemática a través de la base de datos PubMed, Cochrane, Scielo y Science Direct, seleccionamos diferentes artículos, que cumplieran con los criterios de inclusión y exclusión, y con una puntuación ≥ 9 puntos en la escala CASPe. Resultados: Todos los artículos muestran mejorías a favor de la terapia en espejo, en la aplicación del tratamiento en heminegligencia, dolor, funcionalidad y recuperación motora de la extremidad superior, destreza manual, función y recuperación motora de la extremidad inferior, actividades de la vida diaria, propiedades musculares y equilibrio. Discusión: En la mayoría de los artículos el cegamiento fue simple, el tamaño muestral fue pequeño (media de 36 participantes por estudio), y la intervención se realizó moviendo sólo la extremidad contralateral a la afecta. Se requiere más investigación para poder demostrar la efectividad de esta terapia a largo plazo. Conclusión: Comprobamos que los estudios revisados muestran que la terapia en espejo es eficaz en pacientes que hayan sufrido un Ictus.

Objective: Analysing if mirror therapy, as part of a rehabilitative approach, produces beneficial effects in Stroke patients. Methods: Through a bibliographical research using Pubmed, Cochrane, Scielo and Science Direct databases, we selected different articles, which accomplish the inclusion and exclusion criteria, with a punctuation of ≥ 9 points in the CASPe scale. Results: All of the articles show improvements in favour of mirror therapy, in the application of the treatment in hemineglect syndrome, pain, motor function and recovery of the upper limb, manual dexterity, motor function and recovery of the lower extremity, activities of daily living, muscle properties and balance. Discussion: In the most of the articles the blinding was simple, the sample size was small (average of 36 participants per study), and the intervention was performed moving only the contralateral limb to the affected one. More research is required to demonstrate the long-term effectiveness of this therapy. Conclusion: We checked that the reviewed studies show that mirror therapy is effective in patients who have suffered a Stroke.
