Conocimiento en la CAV sobre la fisioterapia en el ámbito neuropediátrico: un estudio transversal

Abstract

Introducción: La fisioterapia pediátrica es la disciplina que se encarga del asesoramiento, cuidado y tratamiento de bebés, niños y niñas y adolescentes, cuyo objetivo principal es ayudarles a convertirse en personas maduras, independientes e integradas en la sociedad. Objetivo: Averiguar y sacar a la luz el conocimiento que existe entre la ciudadanía de la Comunidad Autónoma Vasca respecto a la fisioterapia neuropediátrica. Material y métodos: En este estudio transversal analítico, se recogió información a través de una encuesta en el periodo comprendido entre el 8 de marzo al 1 de abril. La encuesta se distribuyó a través de las redes sociales, principalmente WhatsApp, a la ciudadanía de la CAV con edades comprendidas entre los 16 hasta los 80 años. Resultados: En este estudio han participado 506 ciudadanos y ciudadanas de la CAV, de las cuales 338 personas no conocían la fisioterapia neuropediátrica y 168 la conocían. En cuanto al sexo, de las personas que han respondido a la encuesta 359 fueron mujeres y 147 hombres. Atendiendo a la edad, la mayoría de participantes tenían edades comprendidas entre los 36 y 70. Respecto de la densidad poblacional de los pueblos/ciudades donde viven los participantes, la mayoría contestaron tener su lugar de residencia en poblaciones de entre 5.000 y 19.999 habitantes. El 55´73% de los participantes contestaron tener descendencia y el 44´27% respondieron no tener hijos/hijas. Discusión: El desconocimiento ha sido mayoritario, en términos generales la mayoría de participantes desconocían la fisioterapia en el ámbito de la neuropediatría. Se ha podido observar que los profesionales de la salud tienen mayor conocimiento acerca del tema y a su vez los que trabajan en educación no tienen tanto conocimiento.

Introduction: Pediatric physiotherapy is the discipline responsible for the advice, care and treatment for babies, children and adolescents, whose main objective is to help them become mature, independent and integrated into society. Objective: Bringing to light the knowledge that exists among the citizens of the Basque Country regarding neuropediatric physiotherapy. Material and Methods: In this analytical cross-sectional study, information was collected through a survey in the period from March 8 to April 1. The survey was distributed through social networks, mainly WhatsApp, to the citizens of the Basque Country from 16 to 80 years old. Results: In this study, 506 citizens of the Basque Country participated, of which 338 people did not know about neuropediatric physiotherapy and 168 did. Regarding the sex, 359 were women and 147 men. Referring to the age, the majority of the participants were between the ages of 36 and 70. Concerning the population of the towns and cities where participants live, the most indicated answer was between 5.000-19.999 inhabitants in their places of residence. Of all the participants, 55´73% answered they had children and 44´27% answered they did not have children. Discussion: Knowledge has been negative in general terms, the majority of participants were unaware of the physiotherapy in the neuropediatrics field. It has been observed that health workers have more knowledge about the subject and that those who work in education do not have as much knowledge.
