Efecto de la terapia miofuncional en la deglución de los lactantes

Abstract

RESUMEN : Deglución, habilidad de los seres humanos que garantiza y fomenta un desarrollo, crecimiento y nutrición correctos. 1,2,3,4 Para ello, es importante la integración sensoriomotora orofacial desde una temprana edad.12,3,4 Mediante terapia miofuncional, se puede potenciar estimulando dicha región. 5,1,2,6,7,8 Se pretende observar el efecto de la terapia sobre la velocidad y el tiempo de deglución. Además de comparar dicha velocidad entre lactantes femeninas y masculinos y mayores y menores de seis meses. Estudio analítico longitudinal experimental prospectivo no controlado antes–después. Lactantes sanos con deglución típica (n=6). Los criterios de exclusión fueron, lactantes sanos con alergias, malos hábitos orales y/o padres o tutores que han propuesto a su bebé como voluntario con fines diferentes a los de ayudar en la investigación. Se evaluó mediante T-Student, la velocidad de deglución pre y post intervención en lactantes y se comparó entre mayores y menores de seis meses y mujeres y hombres. De igual manera sucedió con el tiempo de deglución. Los resultados fueron estadísticamente significativos en el aumento de velocidad de deglución. Hubo una tendencia al aumento de la velocidad en lactantes femeninas, en lactantes mayores de seis meses y una predisposición a la disminución del tiempo tras aplicarse la terapia. Existe un aumento en la velocidad de deglución. Dicha velocidad se ve incrementada en lactantes femeninas y en mayores de seis meses. Añadir, la tendencia a la disminución del tiempo de deglución. Futuras investigaciones podrían estudiar el mismo protocolo aplicado en una muestra más significativa para obtener resultados estadísticamente válidos.
