Estudio transversal observacional sobre la relacion entre la forma del torso humano del atleta y el gasto metabolico de la respiración

Abstract

RESUMEN: INTRODUCCION: Los atletas de velocidad y fondo presentan configuraciones torácicas diferentes. Si bien planteamos esta diferencia como el resultado del proceso evolutivo de nuestra especie, nos gustaría entender cuáles son las razones de dicha especialización en la forma del torso. Es decir, es posible que la forma del torso de un atleta le predisponga a rendir más en unas u otras actividades. Este estudio trata de confirmar dicha relación entre la forma del torso y el metabolismo respiratorio. OBJETIVOS: a nivel morfométrico analizar los diferentes tipos de tórax, mientras que, a nivel metabólico, comprobar la validez y fiabilidad del Test Rockport para estimar el VO2máx. Adicionalmente, relacionar la hipoxia con la fatiga y la saturación junto con los diferentes patrones morfométricos y buscar si existe una relación entre forma y función. MATERIAL Y METODOS: estudio transversal observacional en una población de 34 atletas, utilizando análisis morfométrico en tres dimensiones y Test de Rockport para la toma de medición metabólica. Hipoxia realizada mediante dispositivo bucal Aerofit. Se realizarán dos tomas de datos fisiológicos, una en condición normal y otra en hipoxia relacionando lo obtenido con la morfometría. PLAN DE ANALISIS DE LOS RESULTADOS: Se realizará estadística descriptiva de la muestra respecto a las variables antropométricas y fisiológicas. Para medir la relación entre forma y función se realizarán análisis de regresión múltiple multivariable entre las coordenadas de forma 3D del torso y la variable metabólica VO2máx. estimada indirectamente. FORTALEZAS Y DEBILIDADES: es un estudio con un enfoque nuevo de diferentes variables de forma y función, con potencial en la investigación tanto deportiva como en sanidad. Por otro lado, los medios planteados no permiten una estimación directa de la variable de estudio VO2máx, siendo ésta la mayor debilidad del estudio DISCUSION Y CONCLUSION: si los resultados obtenidos confirman la hipótesis, el estudio presentará las bases para futuras investigaciones y creación de protocolos de rehabilitación respiratoria. Además, la hipótesis podría ser relacionada con otras investigaciones similares en campos como el deporte, la sanidad o la evolución humana. ABSTRACT: INTRODUCTION: Sprint and long-distance athletes have different thoracic morphological configurations. Although we consider this difference to be the result of the evolutionary process of our species, we would like to understand the reasons for this specialization in the shape of the torso. Thus, it is possible that the shape of an athlete's torso predisposes him or her to a better performance in one activity or another. This study aims to confirm this relationship between the shape of the torso and the respiratory metabolism. OBJECTIVES: at a morphometric level, to analyze the different types of thorax, while at a the metabolic level, to check the validity and reliability of the Rockport Test to estimate VO2max. To relate hypoxia with fatigue and saturation together with the different morphometric patterns and to look for a relationship between shape and function. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Observational cross-sectional study in a population of 34 athletes, using morphometric analysis in three dimensions and the Rockport Test to take metabolic measurements. Hypoxia carried out using the Aerofit oral device. Two physiological data collection, one under normal conditions and the other under hypoxia, relating the results to the morphometry. ANALYSIS PLAN OF THE RESULTS: Descriptive statistics will be carried out on the sample with respect to the anthropometric and physiological variables. To measure the relationship between shape and function, multivariate multiple regression analysis will be carried out between the 3D shape coordinates of the torso and the metabolic variable VO2max, estimated indirectly. STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES: it is a study with a new approach to different variables of shape and function, with potential in both sports and health research. On the other hand, the methods proposed do not allow a direct estimation of the study variable VO2max, being this the major weakness of the study. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: if the results obtained confirm the hypothesis, the study will provide the basis for future research and the creation of respiratory rehabilitation protocols. Furthermore, the hypothesis could be related to other similar research in fields such as sport, health or human evolution.
