Evaluación del estigma de salud mental en enfermería

Abstract

RESUMEN : El presente estudio trata de la evaluación del estigma de salud mental en enfermería. Por ello, esta investigación pretende evaluar la existencia de actitudes estigmatizantes por parte de los profesionales de enfermería debido a que el estigma hacia las personas estereotipadas repercute de manera negativa en su recuperación. Se trata de un estudio cuantitativo en el que se han buscado artículos mediante una revisión bibliográfica de la literatura científica publicada. El objetivo general trata de evaluar la existencia de estigma del personal de enfermería de Barcelona hacia el paciente con problemas de salud mental. Además, los objetivos específicos son: “Identificar las intervenciones de enfermería de Barcelona contra la estigmatización del paciente de salud mental”, “Comparar la estigmatización hacia el paciente de salud mental entre un enfermero/a de Barcelona de cualquier disciplina con un enfermero/a con formación en salud mental” y “Conocer los factores que podrían condicionar la aparición de estigma hacia el enfermo con patología psiquiátrica, del profesional de enfermería de Barcelona”. Para realizar el estudio se ha precisado de dos escalas: escala adhoc con las variables del estudio y escala EVEPEM (Escala de Valoración para el Estigma de la enfermedad mental en Enfermería). Por último, se ha realizado un análisis de los resultados de varios estudios publicados y las posibles líneas de investigación futuras. PALABRAS CLAVE : “estigma”, “trastorno mental” y “enfermería”.

ABSTRACT : The present study deals with the assessment of mental health stigma in nursing. Therefore, this research aims to evaluate the existence of stigmatizing attitudes on the part of nursing professionals due to the fact that stigma towards stereotypical people has a negative impact on their recovery. This is a quantitative study carried out by means of a bibliographic review of the published scientific literature. The general objective is to evaluate the existence of stigma among nurses in Barcelona towards patients with mental health problems. In addition, the specific objectives are: "To identify the interventions of Barcelona nurses against the stigmatization of the mental health patient", "To compare the stigmatization towards the mental health patient between a Barcelona nurse of any discipline with a nurse with training in mental health" and "To know the factors that could condition the appearance of stigma towards the patient with psychiatric pathology, of the Barcelona nursing professional". To carry out the study, two scales were used: an ad-hoc scale with the variables of the study and an EVEPEM scale (Evaluation Scale for the Stigma of Mental Illness in Nursing). Finally, an analysis was made of the results of several published studies and possible lines of future research. KEY WORDS: “stigma”, “mental disorder” and “nursing”.
